Celebrating 7 Years in Oceania 🏝️🌴🌺
&& Happy Pacific Islander heritage month 🥰
What a journey it has been since the first few days as a tourist in Hawai’i, motorbiking Aotearoa, and traversing the many dots in the Pacific that these beautiful people call home.
From Palau, to Tuvalu, and American Samoa. Tapa, kalo, and connecting the dots of language, I’ve found my joy passion and love into the source of it all: it’s people.
Who for seven whole years have impacted me in the greatest way.
Learning from them.
Being amongst them.
Being one with them!
While I reflect on 7 years of voyaging, there is still a whole journey ahead across familiar places and places unknown. Of continuing to acknowledge the differences that make each is...

Had the blessing of hopping on the media boat amongst other camera men to wrap up a month of documentation of American Samoa’s fautasi season. A culmination and buildup to the power and mana within Pago Pago harbor. Congrats to Nuuuli village for yet another win! WHAT A RACE! 🤩🚣🏽🚣🏽🚣🏽🚣🏽🚣🏽🚣🏽 Faafetai to those who helped me conclude my time immersed into the fautasi! 🥹
Fautasi Racing, More Than A Sport 🚣🏽🇦🇸 American Samoa (Voyage Sneak Peek)
Просмотров 9 тыс.21 день назад
A tribute to the month long immersive voyage within American Samoa’s waa. Only the waa has transformed and evolved into the sport now called the fautasi race as part of the flag day celebrations , once a year. The fautasi race culminates a months long journey of many villages who practice day in and day out both on the water and on land conditioning men to work together as one, fau tasi. But fr...
AMERICAN SAMOA FLAG DAY🇦🇸 🇺🇸 124 Years as a U.S. Territory (Voyage Sneak Peek)

One of the biggest celebrations in American Samoa bringing together villages through pride, song, dance and of course, fautasi racing! To think I was going to be here 4 months earlier with a different plan! Ended up shifting to be a part of such a big unique and beautiful celebration of American Samoa’s territorial relationship to the US, while retaining a strong sense of pride and culture, as ...

My mother is I-Kiribati. They are also incompetent when it comes to paperwork. I don't have a nationality and mainly because of it. Talk about weird, my mother is the weirdest person I know, so different to western people
Nauru negara aneh tak pernah saya ketahui terasing dari liputan negara indonesia nama nya nauru ....
I hate war! But be that it may, you made a very good video.
There is a local militaria shop that is run by the son of USMC veteran who fought here; the owner has a pink sheet that gives a WIA report to his dad's parents, and its framed up in a nice display. His father was bayonetted by Japanese infantry and nearly had one of his legs blown off by friendly fire. All said, its remarkable to see this place in its lavish green vegetation, contrast to the unimaginable suffering of 80 years earlier.
I wanna watch but I can't continue. As someone who enjoys watching ww2 history. Having you change the voices of the video really just ruined it. Couldn't finish your video.
It's my understanding it's not for everyone. Thank you for the honest feedback :)
My firend came from Kiribati so im gonna jnow their country abit more cause in my country RMI/MARSHALL ISLAND
Poor marines the greatest generation ever
The Marine casually throwing the grenade into the bunker and getting his hat blown off by the concussion is a small example of the close, personal, brutal fighting on Bloody Nose Ridge. Sledge wrote that everyone became despondent as getting killed or receiving the million dollar wound were the only escapes from this tropical hell.

Excellent video!
Great video crazy to think that you probably walked where EB sledge walked pretty cool man God bless
Nicely done! You use a great tone.

thank you mr Perez fantastic documentary i have learned much for i am of maori/maui descent their for im hawian descent as well.......your documentary has helped me considerably on my never ending search of my heritage.......Aloha my brother.......maybe Tulsi Gabbard can help with the hawian peoples mission in claiming back your land for Tulsi is fighting a big battle in washington right now she knows the American justice system and how to get around the loop holes.......just so you know all the corruption in washington DC and the white house is being exposed every day in real time globally.......the entire planet has had enough of American Government and their bullshit policies.......The United Nations has had enough of the American Government and its imploding on its self.....Russia and china and many african nations and middle eastern nations have openly said publically they have had enough......so Hawaii is not alone in this fight the entire planet is doing the HAKA and the earth is Trembling......American domination of this world is over.......i am a descendant of THE GREAT KING KAMEHAMEHA I AM DESCENDANT OF MAUI SO WHEN I DO THE HAKA TOWARD THOSE WHOM DISRESPECT ME AND MY PEOPLE THEY WILL TREMBLE.......As we speak the entire planets doing the HAKA and Americas strangle hold on this planet is over.......
Me I’m from Samoa come in my house in tau
Having watched The Pacific. . . A entire new appreciation. Loved the juxtaposition of your experience and the honor to the men who fought. Thank you.
Tokelau is the closest relative to Samoa than all other Polynesian islands. The language similarities is very prominent.
Brilliant piece of work. Really well put together and very interesting for a WW2 buff such as myself. Keep 'em coming!!
SIR! Well Done! I'm watching on my TV and I had to grab my phone about five minutes in to tell you how well you have presented this story. Great concept. Even better execution. Id love to be able to see this kind of presentation on just about every battlefield ever. Damn fine work, son. Damn fine work.
Good job
Well done, a fitting tribute to the young and brave, toughest generation ever, grew up in the depression then straight into that hell against a suicidal enemy, respect.
The air command building is absolutely used in Call Of Duty World At War ❤️
Amazing Video man. It give people like me who could never get to go to these places a view from eye level.
Chesty puller, one of the commanders, and his commander, cant remember his name, both had nervous breakdowns and were relieved of duty. The army had to come in and finish the battle.
Mahalo nui loa for making this video. Makes me cry and I’m not even Hawaiian. Gotta say tho that when my late Japanese mom was pregnant with me, a mixed hapa-haole baby, to be born soon in 1977, my haole dad left and his country didn’t help my mom, Japan discriminated non-Japanese blood back then, Hawai’i was the only place that took us in despite the fact that her soon-to-be born baby would have white blood that betrayed and destroyed their everything. That’s Hawai’i that I respect 100%
I think that fuel dump/storage area is the building Leckie was running by when a mortar shell exploded next to him and took him out of the war. I just finished reading his book and his chapter about his time on the island was insane to read
That area was actually in the area of C Company, 1st Marines. And it was not a big battle. In fact that blockhouse was already destroyed by ship fire before the invasion. Leckie was in 2/1 and hit on the airfield.
My namesake uncle was K/3/8….At Tarawa he was 2nd wave, Red Beach 3…
Thank you so this video. It explains so much.
Cheaters e vaai kuu kou faamamago ga lol
Hard to believe that so many men were killed on such a small island
Your language is dead. come into the 21st century. Speak proper English. Stop being so racist
What an awesome video! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Quick question, you said the Battle Peleliu began on September 15, 1944. That part is correct, but I was wondering why you stated it was the morning of D-Day when D-Day happened on June 6th. Just wanted to know if I was misunderstanding something?
A few inaccuracies. The blockhouse he mentions was not a big battle as it was already destroyed prior to D-Day.
As a former Marine, I'd love to visit Peleliu but probably won't be able to. Thank you for doing this video to show us what it's like there now.
the Japanese air force base shown was depicted in COD World at War during the Peleliu story arc
TY🙏
Thank you for doing this man! A lot of us wont ever be able to experience these types of things in person but to have talented people such as yourself, we can explore it together! By the way, is that headquarters the same one they used in the first Call of Duty Zombies?
I think COD was inspired by this building. I got nothing but world at war vibes man!
In my language(Nauruan) "Mimi" means "sleep". "Inu" means "my mother".😂
😂
So well done
I have never been more jealous/impressed by the footage you’ve been so lucky to capture. You are exactly the type of traveller I want to imitate. Seeing the beaches which so many men on both sides gave their lives and their livelihoods touched me so much. This battle was a game changer in the pacific offensive. You are so unbelievably privileged. Major kudos to you. Thank you for this video.
Super blessed to have been able to make it on Peleliu brother! Thank you for the support and glad you enjoyed
This is such a wonderful video. It’s unfortunate that the Pacific theater lives in the shadows of the war in Europe. Many battles and many more men did not receive credit for the sacrifices that they made.
I Couldn’t agree more man
was looking at peleliu on google maps the other day, happy I found this
Peleliu should have been bypassed...The far less defended Karakelong island is a better staging point, it's bigger and closer to Philippines
BRO this is so good. I am so freakin happy you used that quote from Sledges book at the end. When I was reading his book for the first time when I was 16 i had to put the book down and take some deep breathes. That quote has stuck with me my whole life and helps me be grateful for those who came before me and helped ensure I don't have to live through the horror of war. Thanks so much for this video man fr. Great job!
Love that the readings of Sledge was felt through the quote I used and of course through the project! Respect! Thank you my friend
